I work as a pianist and accompanist for eurythmy classes in Waldorf schools, working closely with teachers and students across different ages.
In eurythmy, music is not simply heard, it becomes movement. As a pianist, I accompany this process by listening closely to the movement, the rhythm of the lesson and the atmosphere of the space, allowing the music to respond and support what is happening.
Music can become gesture, rhythm, space and form.
My role is not simply to provide music for movement. It is a continuous process of listening and responding.
I work with the eurythmy teacher to find music that supports the exercises and forms being explored. During the lesson, I adapt my playing to the pace, energy and movement of the group.
This requires musical sensitivity, flexibility and an awareness of the relationship between sound, movement and space.
